Did you know, an ‘obelisk’ is a tall monument with four sides, ending in a point like a pyramid! This one in the picture used to stand right here from 1762 until nearly 120 years later in 1881, when it was taken down. It was a ‘market cross’, which was used to show this as the place where the market was held. Have you ever seen an obelisk before?
